The video features a cameo appearance from Everton Football Club‘s manager Sean Dyche and sees the band steal ‘Gary the Gorilla‘, an 8-foot fibreglass gorilla taken from a Lancashire garden centre last year, a story that received widespread media attention at the time.
Speaking about his involvement, Sean Dyche says:
“I was delighted to be asked to appear in Blossoms new video and it was great to have a ‘craic’ with them whilst filming. Great lads and a great band … Loving what they all produce”.
“What Can I Say After I’m Sorry?” is produced by J Lloyd from Jungle and consistent Blossoms collaborator James Skelly of The Coral. The track is the first new music from the band since their 2023 single “To Do List (After The Breakup)“, featuring Findlay.
Speaking about What Can I Say After I’m Sorry? Blossoms add:
“We’ve always been big fans of Jungle so we reached out to them last year about working together. This was the first song we worked on, it came together in a couple of hours and we absolutely love it. Sonically, it feels like a new avenue for the band but it still retains the core Blossoms DNA”.
Blossoms are supporting Tom Grennan at Finsbury Park on 10 August and play festivals including Isle of Wight and TRSNMT, before the band’s biggest headline gig to date at Wythenshawe Park, Manchester on Sunday 25 August. For more information on the band’s live performances, visit their website
Since forming in 2013, Blossoms have enjoyed widespread success and acclaim. Their 2016 debut “Blossoms” topped the album charts for two consecutive weeks and went on to earn the band BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominations, while 2018’s ‘Cool Like You’ charted at Number 4 in the UK album chart, spawning the anthemic singles ‘I Can’t Stand It’, ‘There’s A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)’ and ‘How Long Will This Last?’ Their third studio album, 2020’s “Foolish Loving Spaces” was the band’s second UK Number 1 album, while their fourth studio LP “Ribbon Around The Bomb” gave the band their third UK Number 1 album, with the record’s standout tracks ‘Ode To NYC’, ‘The Sulking Poet’ and ‘Care For’ well established as fan favourites. Blossoms have had five top 5 albums in the UK, including their ‘In Isolation/Live From The Plaza Theatre, Stockport’ release.
