Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes 24/11/21
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes o2 Acadamy, Liverpool, 24/11/21
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes are known for their craziness and handstands on the crowds arrived in Liverpool at the o2 academy Wednesday 24th November, a venue they have never played before. After seeing them back in 2019 at the Arts club I had high hopes for this gig and that’s not including that I have been a fan of this band for some time. They had support from Lynks and Cassyette who I have never seen or heard of before so I was looking forward to seeing how they come through.
First up was Lynks, I was a bit hesitant if I was gonna enjoy his performance or not with never hearing about him but I honestly fell in love with him, he ran on stage wearing a full body costume and at that point, I knew it was gonna be fun and different. Lynks brought an electric punk excess to the night which left him having so much energy on stage jumping about with the dancers having fun, which got the crowd to enjoy themselves and get involved. He put on a really good set and set the boundaries for the rest of the night, I would say he is defiantly worth a watch especially if you love to have fun at gigs jumping around. You can catch him in Birkenhead at Futureyard on 24th March 2022.
Second, we had Cassyette who let me just say were insane, I thoroughly enjoyed their set and music. They reminded me of a mixture of the band Yonaka and Marmozets which I am a fan of both bands so if you like them then you will enjoy Cassyette without a doubt. Cassyette brought everything to the table from high energy vibes to knowing how to put on a good show, they really knew what they was doing and think these are ones to look out for in the nearby future because I can see them going far in the music industry.
The main act themselves Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes were next and you could see the crowd getting closer. it felt so unreal walking into the photo pit that I will not only see the band in person again but I’ll be photographing the band as well. They came on stage one by one with frank coming on last with a fractured arm from another gig. They kicked things off with one of their new songs “my town” and by at that point things had already kicked off with the band’s energy and the crowd screaming and bouncing to the music, safe to say, I have never sung along to bands songs while photographing them before but I did tonight! Even though Frank had a fractured arm that didn’t stop him from having a good time and jumping about on stage like the true musician he is, not letting his fans down. During the fourth song, Frank did try to do what he is most famous for but couldn’t because of his arm but he still managed to sing while standing on the crowd while they kept him up, he even crowd surfed back to the stage afterwards. After the fourth song, Frank noticed a few young members in the crowd and gave them roses and even got one of the young members (Joel) up on stage to sing the song “devil inside of me” the kid said he was only 8 years old and knew all the words to the song and afterwards Frank said he could have whatever and how much he wanted downstairs on the merch table which I thought was sweet, just shows how much the band care and love their fans.
They ended the show with their song “Lullaby” and by the end, the crowd shouted the venue down for more songs which they came back on and played 3 more. For the last song “I hate you” they brought up two audience members to sing to finish the night off with a bang. Overall the night was one to remember and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes smashed it once again, it hit next level and it was better than the time I saw them live at the Arts club 2019.
