And Announce More New Music And Tour Dates
Liverpool-born singer and songwriter Andrew Gower formed Gustaffson in 2020 with lifelong friend and guitarist James Webster (‘Webbo’). Though he has been writing music since the age of 15, Gower is best known for his acting roles in acclaimed TV shows such as Black Mirror, Outlander, Carnival Row and the 4th season of the Netflix series YOU.
The formation of Gustaffson was serendipitous. While on a film set, Gower met Elbow musician and producer Craig Potter, sparking a musical collaboration. Gustaffson recorded their debut EP, The Jacaranda, at the iconic Blue Print Studios in Manchester with new band members David Gleave (bass) and Graham Bennett (drums). Released in August 2022, the EP was played across national BBC Radio stations and was even named Record of the Week on Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour (BBC Radio 6). It received glowing reviews from BBC Introducing, Louder Than War magazine, Peter Jobson (I Am Kloot), and TV/film composer Nathan Barr.
The official music video for The Jacaranda, starring Sue Johnston OBE, premiered on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. Directed by Emmy-nominated Barney Douglas (McEnroe), the video garnered significant attention.
In 2023, Gustaffson welcomed Liam Morson (keys) and returned to Blueprint Studios to record their live single, Northern Baby, once again with Craig Potter, who also mixed the track. This single made its radio debut on BBC Manchester and was featured on BBC Sport. In August 2023, they released Champagne Socialist, recorded on the Liverpool Empire stage, receiving rave reviews from BBC Introducing, The Book of Man, Louder Than War, Liverpool Noise, and Baby Step Magazine. The live music video pays homage to legendary performances on the Empire stage by acts such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Chuck Berry.
‘Paris In Summer’ Live at The Arch Recording Studio:
‘Paris In Summer‘ was recorded live at The Arch Recording Studio in Southport and directed by Sam Fountayne. Gustaffson is using this track and many other live videos as a way to include their audience as to what they can expect from their debut album. With the Paris Olympics having kicked off on Friday 26th July, the band thought it the perfect soundtrack for the summer.
