In conjunction with the release of his much-anticipated third album, Leap, acclaimed guitarist, singer and songwriter James Bay is giving 5 lucky fans the chance to win an in-person guitar lesson on the 25th July, in collaboration with Fender. Winners will also receive 12 months’ free access to Fender Play, the complete online all-in-one learning platform for guitar, bass and ukulele. With around a quarter of a million active users globally, Fender Play offers a vast library of songs to play along to, with users able to choose a favourite path and instrument of choice before Fender creates a tailored learning path.
One of the most respected guitar players of his generation and a modern guitar hero for so many, Bay’s revered skills and natural style have seen him become a huge inspiration to a new generation of guitar players, with his IG guitar lessons becoming a ‘must-do’ distraction for thousands during lockdown.
Now James is offering the chance for 5 fans to win a group, in-person guitar lesson with him on the evening of the 25th of July at the brand new Fender Artist Showroom in Covent, Garden, London. James says,
“Learning to play the guitar always worked best for me when I had someone there to show me. It’s the most fun and most interactive way to learn. I’m excited to get together at Fender and pass on some of my favourite tricks and moves to help someone better their playing too!”
To enter, pre-order James’ album Leap here. The competition will close on the 14th July at 4pm.
James Bay will release his highly anticipated third full-length album, Leap, on July 8 via EMI Records/Republic Records. Leap is an open-hearted and hopeful collection of songs dedicated to the people closest to him and finds Bay taking bold creative risks, pushing emotional boundaries, and embracing the unknown.
To bring the album to life, Bay worked with some of the industry’s most renowned producers and songwriters in a mixture of in person and remote sessions in Nashville (at the infamous RCA studio A) & London, including Finneas [Billie Eilish, The Knocks], Dave Cobb [Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, Lady Gaga], Ian Fitchuk [Kacey Musgraves, Brett Eldredge], Foy Vance [Ed Sheeran], and Joel Little [Lorde, Taylor Swift].
This year James has already played a feverish sold-out tour of the UK, with Gigwise noting “If one ever doubted James Bay’s rockstar status, this would be the show to prove them wrong”. Last weekend he headlined Barn On The Farm festival with a number of summer shows still to follow, ahead of joining The Lumineers on their 2022 Brightside World Tour in the US

JAMES BAY
For as much as James Bay upholds traditions of timeless songcraft, the UK singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer also confidently challenges himself and popular music. He spikes a tried-and-true style with clever lyricism, honest confessions, and instrumental proficiency. On the heels of his No.1 triple platinum- certified 2015 debut Chaos And The Calm, he won a Brit Award for Best British Male Solo Artist and garnered GRAMMY® nods in the categories of “Best New Artist,” “Best Rock Album,” and “Best Rock Song” for the gold-selling single “Hold Back The River.” Meanwhile, “Let It Go” went triple-platinum and has been streamed over 2.5million times. Nominated for dozens of awards, he’s taken home two BRIT Awards, two Q Awards, GQ award and top honors at the Ivor Novello Awards. Tallying nearly a total of 7.5 billion streams to date, he’s notably dueted with numerous musical icons including being asked to join Mick Jagger while supporting The Rolling Stones at Twickenham Stadium in London, and Ronnie Wood joined James on stage at his own sold out Brixton shows. As the one of the world’s best guitarists, Epiphone honored him with his own Limited-Edition James Bay Signature “1966” guitar.
Following the success of 2018’s Electric Light album which has scored over a billion streams and where he deconstructed his sound to its bare essentials. James released the Oh My Messy Mind EP a year later hitting nearly 550 million global streams. It yielded the hit “Peer Pressure” generating nearly 350 million global streams which coincided with James being invited to open up for Ed Sheeran on his 2019 record-breaking stadium run. In 2020, James released single “Chew On My Heart” which has already hit nearly 90 million streams and played a sold out show at the London Palladium where he was joined by long-time fan Lewis Capaldi to perform a rendition of Let It Go / Someone You Loved. He also created his own virtual event to share his music to fans during the pandemic, James Bay – Live At Shakespeare’s Globe which was a full concert event livestreamed at the historic venue. Last year, he guested on Maisie Peter’s song “Funeral,” which was featured on Apple TV+ original series “Trying: Season2” soundtrack.
To set the tone for the new year and this next chapter of music James kicked off the year with a sold out “New Songs & New Stories” solo tour across the UK in support of Independent Venue Week. On the tour, he returned to numerous independent music venues where he first got his start as an artist- performing with just a microphone & a guitar – and previewed new music set to come in 2022. This month he embarked on a sold out UK tour with his band for the first time in three years and will play several UK festivals over the summer.
