Scarlet at Jimmy’s 10th Sep 2021
On a warm Friday evening in Liverpool, it was so nice to see streets like Seel Street, Duke Street, and Bold Street busy again with people out to enjoy themselves.
I was there with them to catch local band Scarlet play only their second gig after lockdown!
Walking into the venue downstairs it was lovely to feel the nice cool air (great air conditioning Jimmy’s) I got Chatting to Jessie (singer with Scarlet) before the show, she was a little nervous but I knew, having known Jessie for quite a while, that as soon as she hit that stage she would be just fine and this was to be proved later.
First up was Liverpool based three piece punk outfit “Tits Up”. These girls Evie, Jess, and Amanda warmed up the growing crowd with their set, even dedicating one song to a member of the crowd who had recently celebrated a birthday.
Next up were six piece Kent based Alt-Rockers “Salvation Jayne” who really upped the tempo and the atmosphere with their brilliant rock riffs and outstanding vocals. This was real rock at its best and they had the crowd hooked right from the start. They are currently on tour and I would recommend anyone who loves their Alt-Rock to check these guys out ……. Brilliant!
At spot on 10pm, Scarlet opened up their set much to the delight of their many fans there. This was the first time I had seen them with their new (Well newish given what’s happened over the last 18 months) Drummer Cai and Bass Player Laura and it looked and sounded to me like they fit in just fine. Chatting to Jessie before the gig she told me they were going to play a few new songs which they did and all I can say is that they must be rehearsing pretty hard because they were all delivered to perfection and these alongside old favourites like “Alone” and “Anyway” made for one hell of a great set. Jessie, Adam, Laura, and Cai are a force to be reckoned with and are currently supporting “Hands Off Gretel” so if you’re off to see them you’re in for a real treat.
So all in all a bloody great night at Jimmy’s and hats off to “Tits Up”, “Salvation Jayne” and “Scarlet” for coming back from such a bad 18 months and smashing it.
