The Heavy North set for September UK tour following the release of their

critically acclaimed debut album

Electric Soul Machine

Liverpool six-piece The Heavy North are preparing for their long-awaited UK tour this September following the release of their 10-track debut album earlier this year.

The Heavy North’s debut LP ‘Electric Soul Machine‘ was self-released on Record Store Day back in April (23rd) and has since been well received by fans, followers and the UK music press – including most recently Classic Rock Magazine (“8/10” July ), BBC Introducing and Radio X – as well as gaining new fans through their recent #TimsTwitterListeningParty with Tim Burgess (The Charlatans)

The garage/blues rock band, made up of Kenny Stuart, Jose Ibanez, Andrew Horrocks, Jack Birch, Ste Penn and Mark Rice, formed in late 2018 and released their debut 4-track EP ‘Dive Bar Blues’ in December 2020.

This year has seen the band play a sold out BBC Introducing show at the legendary Cavern Club Liverpool back in January followed by UK shows and support slots with Cut Glass Kings, Cast, The Boo Radleys, and more recently The Zutons and Red Rum Club at the sold out Liverpool International Music Festival Closing Party.

The Heavy North kick off their September tour with their debut Scottish shows in Edinburgh (15th) and Glasgow (16th) before visiting Newcastle (17th), Hull (19th), Birmingham (20th), Newport (21st) and London’s legendary Dublin Castle in Camden (23rd).

The band conclude their UK tour with their biggest hometown headline show to date at the Arts Club Theatre Liverpool (24th) where they’ll be performing Electric Soul Machine in full as a 12-piece band featuring the Northern String Quartet.

“We played a handful of UK shows back in February supporting our mates Cut Glass Kings, but we can’t wait to hit the road for our own headline tour this September,” said The Heavy North frontman Kenny Stuart.

“We’re especially looking forward to playing Scotland for the first time, as well as our big hometown show in Liverpool at the end of the tour where we’ll be playing Electric Soul Machine in full with some guests”.

Five-piece garage/blues rock band The Heavy North released debut singles ‘Don’t You Wait For Me’ and ‘The Night Don’t Give No Love’ in November 2018 followed by live shows in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Blackpool.

The band’s third single ‘Some Good Lovin’ was released in June 2019 ahead of a festival debut at the Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) and a live session and interview on BBC Introducing Merseyside.

Following a sold-out headline show at Jimmy’s Liverpool in September 2019, The Heavy North released their fourth single ‘As Long As You’re Here With Me’ in December 2019 and played a handful of shows supporting Temples, Saint Agnes and Cut Glass Kings on UK tour dates prior to the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020.

The Heavy North returned in May 2020 with the release of “absolutely stunning” breakthrough single ‘Lying To Yourself’  (as heard on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio).

In support of the ‘Lying To Yourself’ release, the band played an exclusive lockdown session for BBC Radio Wales with Janice Long and were also recognised as the most-watched artist at the first ever Liverpool Digital Music Festival streamed online in May 2020.

In August 2020, The Heavy North played a live 30-minute full band set at the iconic M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool for the second Liverpool Digital Music Festival online streaming event, clocking up over 15,000 views on Facebook.

On Friday 4th September 2020 the band released ‘Bring Me Love’ – the follow-up single to ‘Lying To Yourself’ –  and announced that both singles would feature on The Heavy North’s debut vinyl EP ‘Dive Bar Blues’ scheduled for release on Friday 4th December 2020 and available on limited edition, hand-numbered 12” vinyl (300 copies).

To mark the self-release of the band’s debut Dive Bar Blues vinyl EP, The Heavy North also released a free Christmas cover of Clarence Carter’s 1968 soul track ‘Back Door Santa’ in December 2020.

The Heavy North returned in April 2021 with the release of their first single from their debut album, ‘Darkness In Your Eyes’ shortly followed by second single ‘No Good’ in July 2021.

In August 2021, the band announced debut album titled ‘Electric Soul Machine’ would be available for pre-order ahead of the release of the third single ‘Awake’ in October 2021.

The Heavy North returned with their fourth single taken from Electric Soul Machine, titled ‘Satisfy You’, released as a ‘surprise’ single on New Year’s Day (Saturday 1st January 2022). The band also announced their first live show of 2022 would be at the legendary Cavern Club Liverpool for BBC Introducing.

In January 2022, the band announced that the long-awaited debut album Electric Soul Machine would finally be released on Saturday 23rd April 2022 (Record Store Day UK)
