The Montagues new EP review
The Montagues new EP review
With an air of professionalism and a taste of raw indie rock, The Montagues hailing from the Northwest came onto the scene and gave the North West and beyond something other than generic rock. The North West band set out from the off to offer up fun and energetic indie tracks with a louder than life sound crafted for the stadiums they aimed their sights on. With the added inclusion of synth player, Oli Harman, their sound has never sounded bigger.
Their latest EP “That Something” showcases the band at their best. Frontman Kyle Parry introduces us to the song with a stripped back intro full of angst and emotion which lulls the listener into a false sense of calm. Then the chorus comes with awesome sounding vocal layering, which is sung in time with the great sounding backing from the band. Kyle then ramps up vocals during the mid-point showcasing his range, power, and prowess as it builds up to yet another impressive and catchy chorus. The track then breaks it down with sombre toned-down guitars while Kyle contrasts it with his powerful vocal performance building up again to another chorus leaving us with that as it finishes.
Overall, it is evident their time spent honing their craft through practicing and performing with each other pays off in spades. This track, as with all of their others, leaves you wanting more. I personally can’t wait to see what else is in store from The Montagues as they continue to evolve and reinvent their sound further.
